In a historic first, the Ole Miss Rebels softball team has a duo of outfielders – Kylan Becker and Elantra Cox – on the Preseason All-SEC team, which is voted on by the league’s coaches.
Becker and Cox join 15 other players to make up the preseason team. In the 22-year history of the Ole Miss program, Becker and Cox are the first players to receive the honor.
With its two honorees, Ole Miss is tied with Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M for the second most Preseason All-SEC team members. Preseason favorite Florida leads all schools with five players named to the squad.

Becker is coming off of First Team All-SEC accolades in her sophomore season. She posted a .375 batting average on 75 hits, the second highest single-season total in program history. Becker found a home in the No. 2 spot in the batting order, where she drove in 31 runs and scored 34 runs on the year.

Cox returns for her senior season in a Rebel uniform looking to continue her dominance at the plate, where she tallied a program-record 93 hits that led the conference. The speedy centerfielder also broke the single-season school record for runs scored (51), while ranking second all-time in batting average (.429). She is seven hits shy of breaking the Ole Miss career record with 216 base hits.
The Preseason All-SEC Softball Team is voted on by the league’s head coaches and consists of a minimum of 14 players. Each SEC head coach voted for five infielders, four outfielders, three pitchers, one catcher, and one designated player/utility. No ties were broken.
Ole Miss opens the 2018 season at 1 p.m., Feb. 9, against Penn State in the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala.
