Accolades keep pouring in for Ole Miss Baseball pitchers Ryan Rolison and Dallas Woolfolk. Monday, they were named to 2018 Preseason All-America team released by Baseball America.
The duo earned spots on the second team, picking up their third preseason All-America honors. Woolfolk has already earned preseason honors from Collegiate Baseball and D1Baseball, and Rolison adds to his list of accolades from Perfect Game and D1Baseball.
Last season, Rolison had a Freshman All-America season (Collegiate Baseball) going 6-3 on the mound with a 3.06 ERA. The southpaw pitched his way into the rotation toward the end of the season and allowed the third fewest runs (23) among stat-eligible pitchers. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and held opposing hitters to a .242 clip in 61.2 innings.
Woolfolk, one of only three relievers on Baseball America’s preseason teams, is coming off a dominant 2017 campaign where he finished one of the school’s single-season records in saves with 12. The righty held opposing hitters to a .200 clip and maintained a 41-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 37.2 innings of work.
The SEC has a total of 12 players on one of the three preseason list in Rolison and Woolfolk putting the Rebels second in terms of representation behind the Florida Gators with four preseason honorees for the league.
Ole Miss opens the 2018 campaign on Feb. 16 with a three-game series against Winthrop.
