Ole Miss Closer Dallas Woolfolk Tabbed to Stopper of the Year Watch List

More preseasons accolades are raining down on Ole Miss Baseball closer Dallas Woolfolk. Monday, he was named to the Stopper of the Year award watch list by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. For the third-straight season, a Rebel has been listed for this award given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball.
The junior has already been named as a Preseason All-American by four different outlets – NCBWA, Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and D1 Baseball – enters his junior campaign as one of the top relievers nationally, landing him a spot on the prestigious watch list. He is one of 52 players on the list and one of eight from the Southeastern Conference.
Woolfolk is coming off of a dominant sophomore campaign in which he finished one of the school’s single-season records in saves with 12. He climbed the mound 26 times, all in relief, with a 2.15 ERA and a 3-2 record. The righty struck out 41 and held opposing batters to a .200 clip in 37.2 innings of work.
Woolfolk’s 2017 season had him selected to Team USA Collegiate National Team. In 10 outings, he recorded a 0.87 ERA.
“Playing for USA is just an honor, playing for your country,” Woolfolk said. “Just having USA across your chest gives you a sense of being proud, and [you] can’t take a day off of work. Somebody is always trying to get better than you. It has really prepared me for this season.”
The Rebels take the diamond of Swayze for the first time this season against Winthrop in a three-game series beginning at 4 p.m., Friday.
