The Ole Miss women’s basketball run in the SEC Tournament came to an end in the second round against No. 6 seed Missouri Tigers in a hard fought 59-50 loss.

“This is not the way we wanted our season to go,” head coach Matt Insell said. “I am really proud of how our players played and hung in there and never quit playing.”
Ole Miss’ (12-19) defensive play gave Missouri a sea of trouble on the offensive end of the court, causing the Tigers to take a shot early in the shot clock. The Tigers top scorer Sophie Cunningham was held to 11 points that all came in the second half.
Ole Miss forced the Tigers to turn the ball over 24 times in the game while Missouri only got the Rebels to give the ball up 14 times.
Ole Miss closed out the first half on a 12-4 run over Missouri behind the play of Madinah Muhammad who finished the game with 20 points. Her teammate Alissa Alston scored in double figures by putting up 10 of her own.
The Tigers took a 28-26 advantage into the locker rooms at the break.
The Rebels had trouble finding the bottom of the net in the third quarter as the Tigers held Ole Miss to only four points. Missouri scored 13 points taking a 41-30 lead into the final 10 minutes of action.
Missouri finished the game shooting 48.6 percent from the field and held Ole Miss to 28.1 in the game.
