Next Monday, the field of 64 teams will be announced and the first curve on the “Road to Omaha” will be paved.
Teams are headed into this week trying to secure a position in postseason play and some are looking for that coveted national seed to make sure they play on their own home diamond throughout the regional and super regionals. The No. 4 diamond Rebels are projected as the No. 7 National seed in the NCAA Tournament according to D1Baseball.
Ole Miss ended its regular-season with a 42-14, overall record and a 18-12 mark in conference play and SEC West Champions. The Rebels took two-of-three from Alabama over the weekend and Georgia took the series from Arkansas.
The tournament projections were released on Monday and the Oxford regional as of now would play host to Southern Miss, Baylor and Army.
The Oxford regional would be paired with the Tallahassee regional for a super regional matchup. Mississippi State is projected to go to the Florida State regional which could make for a very entertaining super regional with the winner advancing to Omaha to play in the College World Series.
