Visitors to Oxford will be greeted by a new logo and tagline as Visit Oxford, the destination marketing organization that promotes city events, undergoes a rebranding process.
The new brand carries the tagline, “We are your type,” a play on Oxford’s literary roots, and will express Oxford’s place in Mississippi as an upscale destination, according to Mary Allyn Hedges, director of Visit Oxford.
Hedges said she hopes the new brand will build loyalty for those who visit Oxford, and spur curiosity for those who have not.
“Calling attention to the unique features of our destination, as a college and literary town, we feel our new logo hits the mark and also works well with the City’s logo,” Hedges said. “We went through an extensive process to find the right agency to help get the job done and we are so pleased with the finished product. Over the next month you’ll see our new logo implemented in various places including advertising.”
Tourism impacts Oxford’s economy in a direct way. Visitors to Oxford spent $174 million in the 2017 fiscal year, an increase of 13.3 percent from the year prior, Visit Oxford reported.
Hedges said an up-to-date, consistent marketing message will build loyalty, repeat business and encourage “Oxford types” to be advocates and to share their experiences through word of mouth and social media.
