Ole Miss head basketball coach Kermit Davis said he is gearing up for the 2018-2019 season with the Rebels when he addressed the media Thursday, June 28 on an SEC teleconference call.
The Rebels are coming off of a 5-13 mark in conference play and a 12-20 overall record with the departure of former coach Andy Kennedy. Davis has four of the top six scorers returning to the court for Ole Miss.
“The tempo, pace, culture and the buy-in to our new staff has been really, really good,” Davis said.
Kermit said senior Terence Davis tested the NBA waters before deciding to return to Oxford this season. The Southaven native was able to get some feedback from 23 of 24 general managers and a lot of workouts, he said.
“He loves Ole Miss and just wanted to try and end his career on a different note than how it did last year,” Davis said.
The team welcomes returning Rebels Breein Tyree, Devontae Shuler, Bruce Stevens and Dominik Olejnicizak, along with five high school players.
The team reunites on the court July 5, as they have ten practice days scheduled ahead of them.
