Voters who cast their ballots at the old mall on West Jackson Avenue during elections will now be voting at a different precinct.

District 4 voters in Lafayette County will now cast their ballots at the Lafayette Civic Center.

Residents who live in District 4 will be voting at the Lafayette County Civic Center. Formally known as the Men’s Civic Center, the building is located off Highway 6 West at 14 Tommie Collie Jane Road.
Supervisor Chad McClarty said county leaders began searching for a new precinct after University of Mississippi officials informed the county they didn’t want to be affiliated with the political aspects of voting precincts in their building.
“It’s been a lengthy search and we appreciate the civic club for allowing us to move the voting precinct there,” McClarty said. “Any time we do this, we know it affects the people and we hope it doesn’t affect voter turnout (in future elections).”
McClarty said residents living in District 4 will receive new voter cards in the mail indicating the new precinct.
