Area schools Oxford Middle School and Bramlett Elementary experienced a brief soft-lockdown earlier this morning due police activity in the area.

Oxford School District Superintendent Brian Harvey released a statement to parents through email thanking the school resource officers and OPD for resolving the issue.

“Thanks to the Oxford Police Department and OSD school resource officers the situation was resolved without incident,” he wrote. “There was never a threat to any of our school campuses.”

OPD Captain Hildon Sessums said patrol was looking for an auto burglar who ran from the area of Factory Connection.

“It was a precautionary measure,” he told HottyToddy.com in an email.
