Ole Miss Grad, MS State Auditor Announces New Transparency Website for Govt.

Mississippi State Auditor and Ole Miss graduate Shad White announced this week the launch of a new section of the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor website dedicated to transparency.

Many contracts, requests for proposals, and various other documents from the office will be posted online here.

Shad White was appointed as state auditor by Governor Phil Bryant Friday, July 6. Photo via Facebook.

White said the auditor’s office is committed to being the most transparent state agency in Mississippi.

“Transparency is essential to creating trust and preventing fraud in government. It also serves as a disinfectant,” he said. “When Mississippians see how an agency awards contracts, it helps prevent favoritism and corruption. People have a right to know how we do business and spend their money. This new addition to our website allows this office to simultaneously educate the public and be held accountable for its work. I encourage everyone to visit the site.”

Gov. Phil Bryant appointed White to state auditor July 6. He graduated summa cum laude from Ole Miss in 2008 where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics. In addition to graduating from the university as a Truman Scholar, White was also recognized as the university’s 25th Rhodes Scholar.
