In celebration of the First Amendment to the United States which prohibits “the making of any law abridging the freedom of speech” and “infringing upon the freedom of the press”, the local bookstore is offering a seven percent discount on book purchases during its “First Amendment Tax Holiday.” The discount nullifies the amount of sales tax on each purchase and is valid through Sept. 2.

“This promotion celebrates the great traditions of free expression and free press in our nation and the rich tradition of Mississippi’s literature,” Sarah Baker, marketing associate for Square Books, said in a press release.
