The Oxford School District is honoring staff and faculty who “knock it out of the park” by going above and beyond on and off school grounds.
Superintendent Brian Harvey is recognizing their efforts by posting their accomplishments online and presenting them with a special baseball, dubbed, a Home-Run Ball.
Anyone who works for the school district is eligible to be recognized.
“Often, I receive emails and information from parents, students and community members about someone in our schools who has made a special impact on them or their child,” Harvey said. “In the past, I have sent an email thanking the employee for their dedication and service to our community. This is just a more public way for us to recognize when our employees really exhibit one of our five core values.”
Those core values are equity, excellence, service, support and relationships.
So far, four district employees have received a Home-Run Ball:
* OES Counselor, Amy King, for helping a student making the transition from Bramlett Elementary to Oxford Elementary and easy one
* OSD Bus No. 54 driver, Porchia McGlowen for his efforts in making his bus riders feel special and welcomed
* OSD Employee, Sedrick Robinson for helping a citizen after dark when her vehicle broke down on Highway 6.
* OHS teacher Chase Goolsby for the friendly and helpful service he gave a rising freshman and his family
Read about all the recipients on the Home-Run Ball website.
After Harvey presents the employee with a Home-Run Ball, their picture is posted on the district’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
“Although I am the one giving the ball, they are the individuals who have hit the home-run and deserve the recognition,” Harvey said.
Nominations are welcome from students, colleagues, parents and the community and can be sent to Harvey at bharvey@oxfordsd.org.
