IHL Board Votes to Remove Meek Name off UM Journalism School

Published

on

The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board voted at 9:30 this morning to remove Ed Meek’s name from the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media building.

The move was done without comment from the IHL trustee members and approved as part of a 50-item consent agenda.

The request for his name to be removed is the result of the backlash from Meek’s now deleted social media post, which referenced two black females and had alleged racial undertones. Meek deleted the post, but not before it went viral sparking rage from the LOU community.
