The Ole Miss Rebels fell at home to the Auburn Tigers 31-16.
A defensive struggle broke out in the first half of play as neither offense could produce a strong drive. Auburn was able to get the lone touchdown of the half as quarterback Jarett Stidham found JaTarvious Whitlow for a three-yard score.
Ole Miss (5-3, 1-3) would then climb back into the game on a 36-yard field goal off the boot of Luke Logan.
In the second quarter, the Rebels would cap a seven-play drive with a 37-yard field goal by Logan. The Tigers answered with a field goal of their own by Anders Carlson.
Auburn took the 10-6 advantage going into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, Auburn’s offense started to roll as they put 21 points on the scoreboard. The Rebels had a 62-yard drive on which senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu connected with two different receivers, Braylon Sanders and A.J. Brown, to move them down the field. The drive was stalled which forced a field goal by Logan.
Ole Miss’s lone touchdown was to Brown from Ta’amu for a 12-yard reception. Brown finished the day with 10 catches for 155 yards and one touchdown.
Ta’amu threw for over 320 yards and and one touchdown. He rushed for 43 yards on 19 touches in the game.
The Landshark defense allowed the Tigers to run for 269 yards and pass for 215 for a total of 484 yards. Ole Miss rushed for 123 yards and passed for 324 yards.
The Rebels return to action Nov. 3 as they play host to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
