The Oxford Police Department arrested a Memphis man for allegedly paying for a vehicle with a bad check.
On Sept. 27, OPD took a report from someone who claimed they sold a vehicle to Calvin Scott Jr., 23, of Memphis and that Scott paid for the vehicle with a cashier’s check in the amount of $13,806. However, when the seller went to deposit the check, he was told that the check was returned.
Scott was arrested by OPD officers and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with felony false pretense and given a $15,000 bond by a Justice Court judge.
