Hyde-Smith, Espy Will Vie for Senate Seat in Runoff

The Associated Press projects that Democrat Mike Espy and Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith will compete in a runoff election on Nov. 27, 2018 for the U.S. Senate seat.

As of 10 p.m., Espy garnered 41.7 percent of votes with 75 percent of the state’s precincts reporting, and Hyde-Smith clenched 39.9 percent of the reported votes. Republican Chris McDaniel placed third in the special election with 16.9 percent of the respective votes.
