Hyde-Smith Leads in Lafayette County, Trails Statewide

The Associated Press currently has Democrat Mike Espy and Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith in a close race with 15 percent of the state’s vote reporting.

Espy currently clenches 44 percent of the state’s vote with Hyde-Smith holding onto 37 percent. 

Lafayette County was called at approximately 8:38 p.m. with Hyde-Smith garnering 46 percent and Espy following behind with 34 percent. Republican Chris McDaniel received 17 percent of the county’s vote.
