Freezing rain and sleet in Lafayette County are creating some icy roadways in and around Oxford, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.

With temperatures expected to remain below freezing all day, conditions could worsen.

The Oxford Police Department reported that the Highway 30 bridge was starting to ice up this morning.
We are working on getting a crew up there now,” OPD tweeted at about 10:30 this morning.

As of 11:15 a.m., the NWS reports a 60 percent chance of rain, snow and sleet this afternoon and a 40 percent chance of snow this evening.

Residents living along the west border of Lafayette County have the greatest chance of seeing up to an inch of snow.
