Rebels Conclude Another Successful Semester in the Classroom

Ole Miss student-athletes put together another impressive semester academically, recording the second-best semester GPA in athletic department history in Fall 2018 while also moving the department’s cumulative GPA to the highest in recorded history at 3.032.

This semester, 20 current Rebels graduated while 13 also claimed their degrees by taking advantage of the Rebel Reconnect program. Ole Miss had a record 55 percent of its student-athletes make the AD’s Honor Roll (3.0 GPA or better), with 55 claiming the Dean’s Honor Roll (3.5 or better) and 67 earning a spot on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll (3.75 or better). Additionally, 31 Rebels earned a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

“The community has much to be proud of in how our student-athletes take advantage of their educational opportunities while competing at the highest level in their respective sports,” said Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development Bob Baker. “These academic stats and accomplishments are indicative of the culture that Ross Bjork and his administration have established in our athletic department with student-athletes at the center of our mission.”

The Rebel men’s cross country, football, men’s tennis and volleyball teams either tied or set the record for highest team semester GPA this fall.

The Ole Miss soccer team once again led the way for all the Rebel teams, recording a department-high 3.61 GPA this semester. Six on the soccer team recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 11 made the Chancellor’s Honor Roll.

The Rebel men’s tennis team came away as the highest-rated program on the men’s side with a team record 3.43 semester GPA. A total of 80 percent of the team made at least one Honor Roll, and 89 percent of all grades on the team were A’s or B’s.
