Crime and Fire Reports from Jan. 3, 2019

The following reports were made Jan. 3, 2019, by city and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise indicated.

Oxford Police Department issued 80 tickets, investigated three wrecks and the following reports:
1 abandoned vehicle
5 alarms
1 ambulance assists
2 animal complaints
1 burglary
2 careless driving complaints
1 domestic disturbance
1 elderly assist
1 K9 search
1 malicious mischief
1 property damage
5 suspicious activities
2 vehicle searches
2 welfare checks

OPD officers made the following arrest:
1 DUI and careless driving
1 possession of a weapon by a felon
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, one headlight and no tag
1 suspended driver’s license and no seat belt
1 warrant served

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department investigated the following reports:
1 alarm
1 animal complaint
2 residential burglaries (CR 369, CR 199)
1 disturbance
1 juvenile complaint
2 service calls
2 suspicious activities
2 vandalism complaints
2 transports
1 information
3 follow-ups
1 road obstruction
1 civil matter

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 disorderly conduct
1 possession of drug paraphernalia

University Police Department conducted three traffic stops, investigated a report of petty theft and made one arrest for running a stop sign, driving while license suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper tag.

 

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
8:57 a.m. – Haven House – possible heart attack – patient was alert and responsive – monitored vitals until EMS arrived
11:23 a.m. – Stockard Hall – pressure washing under a carbon monoxide detector caused an activation
11:42 a.m. – Winchester – a machine motor locked up and caught fire – Lafayette County Fire Department had the fire out before OFD arrived
7:53 p.m. – Martin Hall room 214 – burned popcorn
2:06 a.m. (Jan. 4) – Lexington Pointe Condos – medical call – EMS already on scene
