Crime and Emergency Reports from Feb. 25, 2019
The following reports were made Feb. 25, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.
Oxford Police Department issued eight tickets, investigated five wrecks and the following reports:
5 alarms
3 ambulance assists
1 credit card fraud
2 disturbing the peace complaints
1 domestic disturbance
1 harassment
2 improper parking complaints
1 K9 search
1 malicious mischief
1 obstructing traffic
1 shoplifting
1 suspicious person
1 suspicious vehicle
1 suspicious activity
2 welfare checks
Officers made the following arrests:
1 domestic violence-simple assault
1 DUI-second, careless driving, child endangerment and careless driving
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, expired tag and suspended driver’s license
1 shoplifting
1 warrant served
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest on an unknown warrant, investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 alarm
2 animal complaints
1 disturbance
1 domestic violence
1 juvenile complaint
3 service calls
2 suspicious activities
2 welfare concerns
1 transport
1 information
1 follow up
1 reckless driving
University Police Department investigated the following reports:
1 ambulance needed
1 suspicious vehicle
1 moving violation
Oxford Fire Department reports were unavailable Friday.
6:49 a.m. – The Connection Bldg. 1 – fire alarm system malfunction
8:02 a.m. – 200 Thacker Loop – patient with stroke-like symptoms – monitored until EMS arrived
9:34 a.m. – The Connection – same alarm this time call canceled
11:29 a.m. – Hermitage Gardens – call canceled
11:33 a.m. – Gus’s Fried Chicken – smoke from a fryer activated a smoke detector
12:11 p.m. – Brittany Store – person had passed outpatient was responsive upon arrival and stood by for EMS
12:27 p.m. – Walmart – patient having chest pains – monitored vitals until EMS arrived
3:20 p.m. – Minor Hall room 147 – fire alarm malfunction
4:07 p.m. – Boys and Girls Club – a child pulled a fire alarm pull station
4:49 p.m. – 204 Town Center Square – unresponsive female – patient was responsive upon arrival – firefighters helped EMS carry her down the stairs
7:11 p.m. – 12 CR 411 – resident started a fire in the fireplace without the flue being open activating a smoke detector
2:21 a.m. – George Hall – Air conditioner fan motor caught fire
3:17 a.m. – Solo Apts. University Ave. – building general fire alarm system malfunction
