Ole Miss Softball Falls to Louisiana in Winners Bracket

The Ole Miss softball team fell to Louisiana 2-0 in the winners bracket in the noon game of the Oxford Regional today.

Ole Miss (38-18) competed in a pitchers’ duel most of the game with the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Louisiana scratched first in the game for two runs off a throwing error by catcher Autumn Gillespie in the third inning.

Senior Kylan Becker went 2-for-2 at the plate on the afternoon. Sophomore Gabby Alvarez delivered the third hit for Ole Miss.

Rebels’ hurler Molly Jacobsen worked seven complete innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits. She recorded 10 strikeouts on the day.

Louisiana’s starter Summer Ellyson did not surrender a run in the game. She gave up three hits and struck out seven batters in a complete game shutout.

Ole Miss awaits the winner of Chattanooga and Southeast Missouri State to face this evening.
