Ole Miss’ closer Parker Caracci was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in Round 21 of the MLB draft. He was the 627th pick overall.
During his time in Oxford, Caracci found his niche in the back end of the bullpen as a closer.
The junior has a career 3.32 ERA and 21 saves in his two seasons on the mound. Last year seemed to be the year for the right-handed ace with a season ERA of 2.25. He was selected in the 37th round of the MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Jackson, Mississippi native’s stone-cold swagger returned to the mound in the 2019 season as a ferocious staple that enhanced a prolific bullpen.
Over his career, Caracci has garnered All-American honors, All-SEC accolades, became a member of USA Collegiate National team, and was selected as the SEC pitcher of the week, April 2, 2019.
Caracci joins four fellow Rebels in this year’s draft along with Grae Kessinger, Cooper Johnson, Will Ethridge and Thomas Dillard. He is the 178th selection from the Ole Miss program and the 111th pick under Coach Mike Bianco’s era.
