Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports From June 7-9, 2019

The following reports were made June 7-9, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 20 tickets, investigated 10 wrecks and the following reports:
3 911 hang-ups
20 alarms
3 animal complaints
2 careless driving complaints
1 civil matter
1 discharging of a firearm inside the city limits
8 disturbing the peace complaints
1 domestic disturbance
1 harassing phone call
1 improper parking
1 larceny
3 motorist assists
1 property damage
6 other agency assists
1 shoplifting
9 suspicious activities
4 suspicious people
2 suspicious vehicles
1 trespassing
6 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI, no tag, no insurance and no driver’s license
1 DUI and speeding
1 falsifying information, suspended driver’s license, no insurance and no tag
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and seat belt violation
1 probation violation
2 public drunks
1 shoplifting
1 suspended driver’s license, one headlight and no insurance

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
6 agency assists
6 alarms
3 animal complaints
5 civil matters
1 disturbance
1 domestic violence
1 harassment
4 informational reports
1 juvenile complaint
1 noise complaint
4 petty thefts
1 public drunk
2 reckless driving
3 road obstructions
25 service calls
1 sexual assault (out-of-county)
1 suspicious person
2 suspicious vehicles
3 transports
3 welfare concern
1 trespassing
1 disorderly conduct

Deputies made the following arrests:
1 felon in possession of firearm warrant
1 child endangerment warrant
1 possession of controlled substance, contempt warrant
1 public drunk
1 disorderly conduct

University Police Department conducted 29 traffic stops, responded to one medical call and issued three tickets.

Oxford Fire Department firefighters responded to the following calls:
6/7 – 12:25 p.m. – Lyceum – burned mac and cheese activated a smoke detector
6/7 – 2:11 p.m. – South Oxford Center – testing alarm system
6/7 – 2:27 p.m. – Student Union – second-floor smoke detector malfunction
6/7 – 4:46 p.m. – Taco Bell – medical call – EMS already on scene
6/7 – 4:49 p.m. – The Links – a child accidentally stuck herself with an Epi-pen – stood by for EMS
6/7 – 6:01 p.m. – 919 Old Taylor Road – general fire alarm malfunction
6/8 – 10:57 a.m. – Huddle House – patient with bad nose bleed – stopped the bleeding and monitored until EMS arrived
6/8 – 11:08 a.m. – Verizon – vehicle fire – truck engine and dash area fully involved
6/8 – 9:58 p.m. – 2502 Old Taylor Road – call canceled
6/9 – 12:00 p.m. – Kroger – call canceled
6/9 – 3:38 p.m. – BMH-people stuck on an elevator
6/9 – 3:54 p.m. – Washboard Coin Laundry – a subject with chest pains
6/10 – 2:44 a.m. – New Friend, 1200 Jefferson Ave. – duct detector malfunction
