Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports from July 2, 2019

The following reports were made July 2, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 28 tickets, investigated 10 wrecks and the following reports:
2 911 hang-ups
6 alarms
1 animal complaint
1 careless driving
2 civil matters
1 counterfeit currency
2 disturbing the peace complaints
3 domestic disturbances
1 forgery
1 K-9 search
1 motorist assist
2 scams
1 simple assault
3 suspicious activities
1 suspicious vehicle
1 trespassing
2 welfare checks

Officers made the following arrests:
1 disturbing the peace
3 for DUI, careless driving, no tag and no insurance
1 possession of a schedule 4 drug, suspended driver’s license and no tag
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to dim lights and resisting arrest

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for possession and trafficking of a controlled substance and investigated the following reports:

1 animal complaints
1 auto burglary
1 civil matter
1 grand larceny
2 informational reports
1 juvenile complaint
1 noise complaint
1 petty theft
1 road obstruction
6 service calls
1 follow-up on a sexual assault
2 suspicious activities

4 transports
2 welfare concern

University Police Department investigated one wreck and conducted three traffic stops.

Oxford Fire Department firefighters responded to the following calls:
8:10 a.m. – The Retreat Bldg. 310 – water flow alarm malfunction (again)
9:52 a.m. – Phi Delta Theta House – call canceled
10:02 a.m. – Phi Kappa Psi House – call canceled
10:39 a.m. – South Oxford Center – workers activated a smoke detector
