Early Morning Wreck Claims Life of Oxford Man

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal wreck that claimed the life of a local man.

According to Coroner Rocky Kennedy, Ira L. Hickinbottom, 52, was killed early Monday morning in a motorcycle wreck on County Road 323.

At 2:41 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 206 CR 323 for a traffic accident. It appeared that Hickinbottom lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road and was unable to regain control, according to the sheriff’s department.

Hickinbottom was the only person involved in the wreck.
