On Monday, Ole Miss Athletics released a statement that Givens underwent a successful surgical procedure on his lower back July 18. The medical staff evaluated his progress and determined that he will be limited throughout preseason camp and is hopeful to return in time for the opener.

The Nashville, Tennessee native started every game in 2018 at right tackle. Givens has played in 34 games throughout his tenure for the red and blue.

Ole Miss opens the season on the road on the banks of the Mississippi River against the Memphis Tigers on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. on ABC.
