The Ole Miss soccer team returns to action this evening as they host the Samford Bulldogs in an exhibition match at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
When the Rebels and Samford take the pitch it will be played in three, 30-minute periods instead of the typical 45-minute halves.
Head Coach Matt Mott’s squad returns with 15 veterans and 10 freshmen additions led by senior captains Julia Philips, Gabby Little and junior Grace Johnson.
Samford is coming off a 12-6-1 record last season and 8-0-1 in the Southern Conference action. The Bulldogs have six position starters returning to the lineup. The team is led by junior forward Caroline Orman with nine points and 37 shots on goal.
Ole Miss and Samford have met only once during regular season in 2002.
The Rebels have one more exhibition match on Friday as they travel to Conway, Arkansas to take on Central Arkansas. Ole Miss will open the regular season Aug. 22 when they welcome the University of North Alabama Lions to Oxford.
