Citizen Alerts OPD of Vehicle Burglary Taking Place at Taylor Cottages

An alert citizen at Taylor Cottages helped the Oxford Police Department to solve several vehicle burglaries.

According to reports, on Aug. 21, a resident at Taylor Cottages noticed a man around 6:20 a.m. breaking into a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and discovered Joey Williams, 26, of Abbeville inside of the truck.

Williams was detained without incident. Through the course of the investigation, investigators discovered at least five vehicles that had been burglarized at Taylor Cottages. Officers located all the stolen property and returned it to its owners.

Williams was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center for five counts of auto burglary where he was given a $100,000 bond by a Justice Court Judge; however, a hold was placed on Williams with the District Attorney’s Officer for previous felony charges.
