Next season, Ole Miss will step on the gridiron against UConn in a home-and-home series that was announced by the university on Thursday.
The Rebels will play the UConn Huskies on Oct. 24, 2020. Originally, Ole Miss was scheduled to face a matchup against Middle Tennessee. The Rebels and Blue Raiders will now face off on Sept. 7, 2024, in a home contest for Ole Miss.
When these two programs face-off, it will be the first-ever meeting on the gridiron.
Ole Miss has also agreed to a home-and-home series partnership with Purdue beginning in 2033.
The Big Ten opponent visits Ole Miss in 2033, followed by a rematch the following season as the Rebels make the trip to West Lafayette, Indiana, in 2034.
Purdue and Ole Miss have only faced each other once with a 27-7 Boilermaker victory in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1929. The last present-day Big Ten school to visit Oxford was in 1952 when the Rebels defeated Maryland, 21-14, at Hemingway Stadium.

Both of these opponents are examples of Ole Miss’s fear of good competition.
Hard as it is to believe, dropping Middle Tennessee State for Connecticut is a downgrade. Purdue has a good season about once a decade.
Ole Miss football will always be second-tier as long as its leaders are afraid to schedule top opponents. It’s hard to be good when you’re gutless.
