Oxford Man Charged With Possession of Drugs, Gun

An Oxford man was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections after being found with drugs and a reported stolen gun.

According to the Oxford Police Department, on Monday, investigators with MDOC responded to an apartment rented by Syvonte Buford, 21, of Oxford. Once inside, the MDOC agent discovered drugs and a reported stolen gun inside of the residence.

Buford told the agent that he was given the gun by another person.

He was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center. He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Buford was given a bond of $20,000.
