City of Oxford’s Annual Christmas Parade is Tonight

The City of Oxford’s annual Christmas parade, which kickstarts the Christmas season for many Lafayette County residents, is tonight at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s theme will be “Winter Wonderland.”

The parade route will follow the same as last year’s route, which changed after 40 years due to the parade’s growth.

Parade participants will gather on University Avenue between Old Taylor Road and 5th Street, which will be closed to traffic. The parade will continue down University Avenue to South Lamar Boulevard and travel around the east side of the Square, down North Lamar Boulevard to Price Street where it will officially end; however, floats will continue to the Oxford Activity Center parking lot to be dismantled and where participants can be picked up.

The entire length of the parade route is 1.7 miles.

Floats will be judged and prized will be awarded to first, second and third place as well as Best Unique Vehicle and Best Live Performance Group.
