Carleigh’s Corner: Happy New Year and Happy Spring Semester

Happy new year and spring semester to everybody! I had a much-needed break over the holidays to see my family and hometown friends. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and I am eager to see what this semester holds.
I was able to do some unforgettable things last semester, and I am ready to see what memories I make this semester. I have already seen some odd sights on campus with seeing one person decked out in Alabama attire and the other in Tennessee Volunteer attire. I thought that it was interesting to see that people are proud to wear rival school colors on campus.
Last week was “syllabus week,” meaning that class workloads are not supposed to be heavy. It is meant to give students an overview of the classes that they have signed up for. I am excited for some creative projects in my classes, but I can’t say that I am excited for research papers.
I am happy that my schedule for this semester is not consisting of 8 a.m. lectures. I know some of my peers who wake up before the sun to get on the bus to make it to class at 8 a.m. I am not a morning person, so I decided to have afternoon classes this semester. I have discovered that campus is not nearly as crowded in the afternoon, and you can stand in the Starbucks line to not wait for 30-minutes compared to the mornings.
I hope everyone has had a great start to the semester so far!
