Looking to defend its Great America Rifle Conference crown and make its third straight NCAA Championship appearance, Ole Miss rifle officially announced its schedule for the 2022-23 season on Wednesday.
The Rebels return six members, including all three counters from last season’s squad that placed fourth at the NCAA Championship meet. All-Americans Lea Horvath, Kristen Derting and Claire O’Neel are all back for another season with the Rebels and have their sights set on another dominant season.
For the second consecutive year, Ole Miss will open the season against West Virginia, this time traveling to Morgantown to compete against the Mountaineers on October 8. The Rebels remain on the road the following weekend as they take on Murray State and UT Martin on October 15 and 16 in Murray, Kentucky. They’ll round out the month at home, welcoming Army to Oxford on October 22.
In November, the Rebels will make the short trip to Memphis for a GARC match with the Tigers on the sixth and then host the defending back-to-back Nation Champions Kentucky on November 19 to close out the fall. Ole Miss has had regular season success each of the last two years, knocking off the top-ranked Wildcats.
The Rebels resume competition on January 14, kicking off the winter slate at Navy and at Akron the following weekend. They then return home for the remainder of the regular season. Ole Miss is set to host NC State at the end of January and Memphis on February 11.
This season, Ole Miss will host Memphis in its NCAA Qualifier match on February 18 after shooting with Jacksonville State the past eight seasons. Postseason action continues with the GARC Championships in West Virginia on February 25 and 26.
Ole Miss looks to cap off the 2022-23 season at the NCAA Rifle Championships, which will be held in Akron, Ohio, on March 10 and 11. The top eight teams in the nation will convene, with one being crowned National Champion.
All home rifle matches are free and open to the public.
