Ole Miss Impresses Elite 2027 Wide Receiver, Earns Spot In Top Group

Cade Cooper left Oxford with plenty to think about, and Ole Miss is now firmly in the mix for one of the top receivers in the 2027 class.

The Malvern Prep standout released his Top 6 and included the Rebels alongside Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Illinois and Nebraska.

For a program that has turned wide receiver into a pipeline to the NFL, landing in that group matters.

Cooper is the kind of player who fits that lineage. He caught 44 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns last season and has the size, polish and production that tend to translate in the SEC. He’ll be back in Oxford for an official visit on May 29, and the early read is that the Rebels made a real impression.

“My time down in Oxford was amazing,” Cooper said to Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong. “I got a chance to hang out with the quarterback committee, Keegan and three other Ole Miss recruits and Tae Walden, Elias Pearl, and Brylan Oduor. The coaches and the community continue to show me love and welcome me to The Sip! What stands out to me is definitely the NFL and ex-NFL talent that continues to form the team and the support the staff. I think Coach Golding is somebody that the community loves and respects and that speaks volumes.”

That NFL track record is a selling point on its own, but Ole Miss has another advantage in this recruitment. Quarterback Keegan Croucher, who reaffirmed his commitment after his own visit, has been working the recruiting trail as hard as anyone on staff. Cooper spent the weekend around Croucher and other top targets, and that kind of peer recruiting tends to matter.

The receiver group in town included Cooper, top 100 playmaker Elias Pearl and Brylan Oduor. They spent most of the weekend together, and Croucher made it clear who he wants catching passes from him in Oxford.

“Cade Cooper, Eli Pearl, Alvin Mosley, Brylan Odour, Easton Royal, Tae Walden,” Croucher said when asked about his wideout targets, before listing the offensive linemen he’s pushing for as well. “Bryson Hurt, Antonio Berry, Caden Moss. Some others too.”

Ole Miss has built a reputation for developing receivers, and Cooper fits the mold of the next one in line.

The Rebels are in the fight, they have their quarterback helping lead the charge, and they’ll get another swing when Cooper returns in late May.
