Northwest’s McCarter Earns Second Straight MACJC Special Teams Honor

For a second straight week, Northwest Mississippi Community College freshman kicker/punter Drake McCarter has been named the MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week.

McCarter made good on 2-of-3 field goals from 26 and 38 yards, connected on all three point after attempts and averaged 39.9 yards per punt with three inside the 20 yard line in a 27-13 win over 10th-ranked Itawamba.

The Saltillo native is now 5-for-6 on the season in field goals and 11-for-12 in PATs. He’s also averaging 38.2 yards per punt (14th in the NJCAA) on 21 punts with a nation-leading 10 inside the 20 and two of 50-plus yards.

McCarter and 2nd-ranked Northwest travel to Mississippi Delta Thursday night for a 7 p.m. kick.
