Fitzpatrick-Dorsey Granted Release From Rebel Basketball Program

Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey has been granted his release from the Ole Miss basketball program, according to the team’s twitter account.
After Fitzpatrick-Dorsey averaged 12 minutes per game during the 2015-16 season, many wondered if his role would expand in 2016-17. That was not the case, as the sophomore saw his role diminished, averaging just 6.6 minutes per game.
In fact, Fitzpatrick-Dorsey last saw action on February 21 against Mississippi State, a game in which he did not score a point and played just two minutes. His last points came in a game against Auburn on February 11.
Fitzpatrick-Dorsey averaged just 1.4 points per game this past season. With a talented recruiting class coming in that features two talented guards, the writing was on the wall for the 6’4 guard from Memphis.
Head coach Andy Kennedy released a statement thanking Dorsey for his contribution to the team over the last two seasons.
“We appreciate Donte’s contributions to our program and wish him the best as he moves forward on his journey,” Kennedy’s statement said.
The Rebels now have two scholarship spots left for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The Rebels most recently landed one of the nation’s top JUCO prospects Bruce Stevens.
