OPC Offers Registration For I Can 5K

The Oxford Park Commission, in conjunction with Run Oxford, is sponsoring a nine-week training plan for the I Can 5K program. It is designed to get an individual to the point of being able to run a 5K (3.1 miles) at a slow, relaxed pace.

It’s a simple, progressive program that begins with more walking than running, and gradually evolves into more running than walking. Participants will train up to three times a week with coaches from Run Oxford. Sessions will be held at Pat Lamar Park on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Tuesdays at 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., and Thursdays at both 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Participants will choose to run during morning or evening sessions on those days. Cost is $35 and includes an I Can 5K tech shirt and entry to the Great 38 5K race on Oct. 7th. Training will begin the week of Aug. 6.
A Meet and Greet with coaches and participants will be Friday Aug. 4 at 6p.m. at the Oxford Activity Center.
