Calvin Eugene Russell, Sr., 75, passed away on Sunday, January 14, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 18, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Lafayette County, to the late Lawrence Edward and Minnie Ruth Moore Russell, Mr. Russell was a retired painter. He greatly loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He was a veteran of the United States Army and achieved the rank of E3, Private First Class, serving during the Vietnam War. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Eugene Russell.
Mr. Russell is survived by his daughter, Michelle Russell Griffin and her husband, Richard, of Kaufman, Texas; sisters, Sue Vaughn of Abbeville, Miss, Peggy Martin of Southaven, Miss and Faye Woodard of Batesville, Miss; brother, Buddy Russell of Abbeville, Miss; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In honor of Mr. Russell’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
