Some filings concerning Ole Miss’ appeal of its bowl ban have been made public.
The NCAA Committee on Infractions response to the program’s appeal as well as the Rebels’ rebuttalto the appeal response are now a matter of public record.
The other sanctions include a scholarship reduction through next season because the COI found the program lacked institutional control.
Ole Miss was also placed on three years probation.
The documents show Ole Miss disagreeing with nearly everything the committee found to be true. It also states that the NCAA used the football program to reach out and state there is a “culture” of noncompliance at the univeristy as a whole. It also says the NCAA limiting unofficial visits from recruits is unauthorized and claims some infractions were based on old cases.
The Rebels also claim the university overstepped its bounds and abused its power with the postseason ban.
While the allegations get sorted out off the field, the Ole Miss is looking to return astrong on the court. The Rebels are entering their second year with newly permanent coach Matt Luke. They’re hoping to improve on their 6-6 mark from last season.
