Former Rebel Breeland Speaks Signs Contract with Kansas City

On Thursday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs announced they signed former Ole Miss linebacker Breeland Speaks via its official Twitter account.

Speaks was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the No. 46 overall pick.

The Chiefs were looking for someone to affect the passer and believe they found him in Speaks, SB Nation reported.
“I love his effort,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid told SB Nation. “He’s got some natural ability. He has a good feel for things and then he’s coming out working hard.”
Speaks ranked sixth in the SEC with 7.0 sacks during his senior season at Ole Miss. He led the team with eight QB hurries and finished second in tackles (67) and third in TFLs (8.0). Speaks totaled a career-high 13 stops against LSU, including seven solos.
