Oxford Regional Brings More Teams to Play in FNC Park Tournament

Swayze Field isn’t the only diamond hosting an important baseball tournament this weekend. FNC Park is hosting a USSSA tournament, and facility director Brad Freeman said Ole Miss hosting an NCAA Regional actually brought in a few more teams.

“We have right around 80 teams this weekend and when Ole Miss has something like this it just spikes the interest,” Freeman said. “Teams are like ‘Hey, let’s go play because in-between baseball games we’ll go watch the Regional.’ It’s an added bonus to the teams.”
Freeman added it’s always a plus to have Ole Miss doing well in sports because people have an interest. That interest only adds to a facility like FNC.
“It’s one of the beautiful things about living in Oxford; you have an awesome university that offers a bunch of different shows or events that let teams take a tour of while they’re playing baseball here,” Freeman said.
The month of June will be a busy time for Freeman. FNC will play host to the USSSA 9-year-old and 14-year-old state tournaments, a four-day long event. Ole Miss baseball will host camps later in June, and the USSSA Global World Series will start July 3.
