Mississippi Primary Results Pose Two Runoffs

Mississippians went to the polls yesterday to vote in the primaries, with one Senate seat and two House seats on the ballot. 
Voter turnout in Lafayette County was low when hottytoddy.com reached out the the election commission’s office at 2 p.m., according to Lafayette County Circuit Clerk Baretta Mosley. 
The Results:
Roger Wicker received the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate by a landslide of 127,449 votes to opponent Richard Boyanton’s 26,519. 
Democrat candidates Howard Sherman and David Baria will advance to a runoff, as they received 27,087 and 26,341 votes respectively. 
If no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote in a Mississippi primary election, the top two vote-getters will advance to a June 26 runoff, the Washington Post reported. 
The House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District had two candidates in the Democratic primary and six in the Republican. Democrat candidate Michael Evans won the nomination over Michael Aycox, 16,131 to 7,233. Republican candidates Michael Guest and Whit Hughes advance to a runoff after securing 28,543 and 14,118 votes respectively.
The House of Representatives 4th Congressional District had two candidates in the Republican primary. Democrat Jeramey Anderson ran unopposed. Republican Steven Palazzo won the nomination with 29,773 votes to opponent Brian Rose’s 12,448.
