Ole Miss Issues Boil Water Notice

The University of Mississippi issued a boil-water alert Friday, July 13 to those who receive drinking water from the university water supply.
The university issued a “RebAlert” shortly after 2 p.m. to students, staff and faculty in regards to the boil-water notice.

According to the Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH), E. Coli was found in the water after conducting a sample.
The department recommends those who receive water from the university to “vigorously boil one minute before it is consumed.” MSDH also recommends to not use the water to make any type of drink or food.
Presence of E. Coli in water usually indicates the water has been contaminated with either human or animal fecal matter, according to MSDH.
Once the boil-water notice is lifted, it is recommended to wash all dishes in boiled water for the next days.
