The Michigan Wolverines announced Monday former Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson starter for the season opener against Notre Dame on Sept. 1. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. on NBC.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh announced that Patterson will be the starter at the M-Club Ann Arbor lunch.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Harbaugh said Patterson had beat out returning redshirt sophomore Brandon Peters and others for the job.

Patterson arrived in Ann Arbor in December transferring from Ole Miss after playing 10 games over two seasons for the red and blue. He passed for 2,259 yards and 17 touchdowns in seven games last season.
