Two Oxford roads will be closed this week to make way for improvements.
Chickasaw Road will be closed until 2:30 p.m. today while city crews install a new sewer connection to serve the Lamar subdivision. This closure is north of Cherokee. Residents of the Cherokee Hills and Hoka Hills subdivisions will need to use Vivian Street for access.
There will be loose rock in the excavated area for a few weeks to allow for complete settlement before asphalt is placed in the cut.
Also this week, College Hill road is having lane closures as crews are leveling and resurfacing College Hill Road beginning at the intersection of Golf Club Drive starting today.
There will be single-lane closures in place and motorists can expect delays until the work is completed. This work is part of a Lafayette County project that was planned and programmed prior to annexation and will benefit the area.
