Hyde-Smith to Hobnob With Candidates at Oxford BBQ

Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith will be in Oxford tonight along with several other state and district candidates for upcoming elections.

According to her communications director, Hyde-Smith will be attending the Good Ole Boys and Gals barbecue event tonight on County Road 299. The event is nonpartisan.

Candidates are given two minutes to speak to introduce themselves. The rest of the night is a social event.

Hyde-Smith was appointed as a Mississippi senator in April after Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss. stepped down. She will face fellow Republican Chris McDaniel and Democrat Mike Espy in November in an attempt to retain the seat.
