A 19-year-old Oxford mother was arrested Tuesday for allegedly exposing her child to a controlled substance.
According to the Oxford Police Department, investigators took a report of possible child abuse. The investigation led to the arrest of Michaela Lay, 19, of Oxford.
Investigators worked the case with the Mississippi Department of Human Services after a complaint was filed stating that Lay exposed the child to a controlled substance. OPD did not disclose what the substance was that was given to the child.
Lay, who is the mother of the child, was taken into custody and charged with felony child abuse. She was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center and given a $10,000 bond.
