Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Goes on Scoring Spree Against Louisiana

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team defeated the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 79-57 on Wednesday as children came to the Pavilion for Kids Day to watch the Rebels in action.

A total of 7,389 fans filled the arena for the game.

Ole Miss’ (5-6) defensive presence became a mainstay in the game in the second quarter as the Ragin’ Cajuns only scored five points.

Coach Yolette McPhee-McCuin’s squad was led on the floor by senior Crystal Allen who scored 18 points in the game. A total of five players finished the game with double figures as Mimi Reid (14), Shandricka Sessom (13), Jhileiya Dunlap (10) and Cecilia Muhate (10) all joined Allen in the action.

Dunlap also recorded a double-double in the game with 12 rebounds.

The team continued to shoot over 50 percent from the floor in the game. The Rebels largest lead in the game came at the 6:04 mark of the third quarter with a 29 point advantage.

Louisiana was led in the game by Ty’Reona Doucet with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the game. The Ragin’ Cajuns did take a four-point lead at the 7:03 mark of the first quarter.

Ole Miss returns to action on Saturday as they hit the road to face Louisiana Tech at 2 p.m.
