OPD Apprehends Juveniles Accused of Making Threats to OSD

Oxford School District officials say a threat to harm district schools and others in north Mississippi has been abated.

According to a Facebook post by an OSD administrator, a text message of a screenshot that had been circulating on social media made its way to officials last night before midnight.

A screenshot of the text message was uploaded to the Pontotoc High School Facebook page.

“The message revealed a threat to do harm to our schools and another in north Mississippi,” the post read.

OSD officials “immediately turned over (the text) to our lead school resource officer, Donovan Lyons,” and contacted the Oxford Police Department to investigate the threats.

“We are happy to report that the juveniles have been identified and are in custody. Neither of these students were Oxford School District students,” according to the post.

No further information was given regarding where the juveniles were apprehended. Calls made to OSD are pending a response.
